The political landscape in Oyo State witnessed a fresh twist as Hon. Olufemi Onireti was appointed Director-General of the City Boy Movement (CBM) in the state, a grassroots mobilisation platform supporting Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The appointment, announced in Abuja by the CBM national leadership through its Director-General, Francis Shoga, comes shortly after Onireti’s resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he was a notable figure and former House of Representatives candidate.

CBM leadership said the choice of Onireti was informed by his expansive political network, grassroots appeal and organisational capacity, expressing confidence in his ability to strengthen the movement’s structure and outreach in Oyo State ahead of future political engagements.
Reacting to his appointment, Onireti thanked the leadership for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to deploy his experience to deepen mobilisation and expand the movement’s influence. He described his defection as a product of ongoing political realignments and a commitment to a broader progressive coalition.
He assured supporters of an inclusive and strategic leadership style focused on effective communication and grassroots engagement, noting that consultations had been concluded with his political base.
Observers say the development could reshape mobilisation dynamics in the state as the City Boy Movement prepares to roll out its operational roadmap in the build-up to the 2027 elections.
