Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi has pledged to promote an efficient, innovative and welfare-driven public service in Oyo State, with emphasis on staff welfare, capacity development, merit-based assessment and improved service delivery.
Adekanmbi stated this on Monday, October 19, 2026, during an engagement with directors, general managers, permanent secretaries and other senior civil servants at the Local Government Service Commission Teaching Hall, Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the civil servants to highlight challenges affecting their productivity and the effective delivery of government services. Among their requests were the restoration of transport welfare through petrol-powered buses, increased access to international training opportunities and the provision of official vehicles for ministries, departments and agencies, particularly those operating in remote and zonal locations.
The participants also called for improved mobility for general managers and officials of the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), as well as the establishment of a recreational centre within the government secretariat to promote sporting activities, relaxation and staff well-being.
Some directors at the meeting recalled Adekanmbi’s previous engagements with the civil service during his tenure as Deputy Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Finance, citing his recognition of hard work, appreciation of merit and contributions to the professional development of officers who worked with him.
Reaffirming his commitment to a people-centred public service, Adekanmbi stressed the need for regular communication with civil servants to obtain feedback, identify operational challenges and develop practical solutions to improve government performance.
He noted that a motivated, adequately equipped and professionally developed workforce remained essential to effective governance and accelerated development in Oyo State.
The engagement highlighted the importance of collaboration between leadership and public servants in building a responsive and productive administrative system capable of translating government policies into tangible benefits for residents.
