The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) has denied any involvement in the conduct, setting, production or handling of questions for the recently concluded Common Entrance Examination, dismissing claims linking the Board to an alleged leakage of the examination results.
The Board, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the allegation made during a programme on a radio station in Ibadan was false, misleading and capable of damaging the reputation of the Board and its Executive Chairman, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran.
OYOSUBEB stressed that it had no role whatsoever in the administration of the Common Entrance Examination and therefore could not be linked to the alleged leakage.
The Board said the administration of Dr. Adeniran had consistently maintained transparency, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of its responsibilities, adding that it would not allow what it described as unsubstantiated allegations and speculative reports to undermine its integrity.
It also clarified that complaints or inquiries concerning the conduct, administration or outcome of the Common Entrance Examination should be directed to the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, which it identified as the appropriate authority responsible for the examination.
While acknowledging the media’s responsibility to hold public institutions accountable, OYOSUBEB urged broadcasters and media organisations to ensure accuracy, fairness and proper verification of information before airing allegations against the Board or its officials.
The Board specifically called on the management and presenters of the radio station where the allegation was made, as well as other media platforms, to exercise caution and verify facts before publishing or broadcasting claims concerning OYOSUBEB.
OYOSUBEB further warned that defamatory statements, false allegations or what it described as a continued smear campaign against Dr. Adeniran would attract legal action.
It said it would pursue all lawful remedies available to protect the reputation and integrity of its leadership.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening basic education in Oyo State and urged members of the public to disregard the allegation and rely on verified information from the appropriate authorities concerning the Common Entrance Examination.
