The Nigerian Navy has announced the opening of applications for its 2026 recruitment exercise into Batch 39 of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School.
The recruitment is scheduled to commence on October 2 and close on October 31, 2026. Interested candidates are expected to submit their applications online through the Navyโs official recruitment portal.
The announcement, contained in recruitment guidelines shared by the Navy on its X account on Monday, stated that the entire process is free and warned applicants against individuals demanding money in exchange for recruitment assistance.
The Navy emphasised that no payment should be made to anyone at any stage of the exercise.
To qualify, applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, possess a National Identification Number (NIN), and satisfy the prescribed educational, age, medical and physical requirements.
Candidates are also required to meet the minimum height standard of 1.69 metres for males and 1.65 metres for females. They must be physically and medically fit, psychologically stable and free from previous criminal convictions.
For candidates applying with OโLevel qualifications, the age requirement is 18 to 22 years as of December 31, 2026. Applicants must also have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, obtained in no more than two sittings.
Separate eligibility requirements have been outlined for candidates holding OND and NCE certificates, as well as tradesmen, applicants in medical-related fields and sportsmen and women.
Applicants who successfully complete the online registration are expected to print their acknowledgement slip, parent or guardian consent form, Local Government attestation form and guarantorโs certification form.
The Navy said details regarding the recruitment examination, including the date and examination centres, would be communicated to qualified applicants at a later stage.
It urged prospective candidates to rely on the official recruitment portal for accurate information when registration begins on October 2.
The service further cautioned that each applicant is allowed to submit only one application, stressing that multiple applications would result in disqualification.
It also stated that applicants must be able to communicate in basic English, warning that failure to meet the requirement could lead to disqualification at any stage of the recruitment process.
