President Bola Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria on Tuesday, September 29, following an extended working vacation in Europe.
The President is scheduled to arrive in Lagos, where he will observe Nigeriaโs 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1 before returning to Abuja the following weekend.
Presidency sources said on Sunday that Tinubu would arrive through the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, where he is expected to be received by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The President is expected to remain in Lagos until Thursday, October 1, when he will deliver a national broadcast as part of activities marking the countryโs Independence Day.
The Federal Government has also scheduled a public lecture for September 30 as part of the anniversary programme.
Tinubuโs decision to celebrate the anniversary in Lagos means he will be observing the national event in the commercial capital for the second consecutive year.
Following this yearโs anniversary activities, Tinubu is expected to remain in Lagos for additional official engagements before heading back to Abuja next weekend.
The President’s return will bring to an end an extended stay in Europe that began on August 30, when he departed Abuja for London. His trip was initially announced as a three-week annual leave.
His return to Lagos is expected to precede his Independence Day address and a resumption of regular presidential engagements in Abuja.
