President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed joy over the successful rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, after 56 days in captivity.

The President, in a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, praised the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force for their coordinated operation, which secured the victims’ freedom without casualties.

According to the statement, the security agencies worked tirelessly to rescue the children and their teachers, arresting eight suspected kidnappers while neutralising others involved in the abduction.

President Tinubu described the rescue as a significant victory against criminality, noting that it had brought relief to the affected families and the nation after weeks of anxiety.
He assured Nigerians that justice would be served for the rescued victims and the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who was killed by the kidnappers during the incident.

The President also directed relevant emergency agencies to work with the Oyo State Government to provide immediate medical care, trauma counselling and other relief support for the rescued children and teachers.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening national security and protecting schools across the country from criminal attacks.
