President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Oyo State Government for its cooperation with the Federal Government in the successful rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire community in Ogbomoso after 56 days in captivity.
The President gave the commendation in a statement released on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, following the successful security operation that led to the safe rescue of the victims.
President Tinubu praised the collaborative efforts between the Oyo State Government and federal security agencies, including the military, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force, describing the operation as a major success.
He also urged the Oyo State Government to strengthen security around schools across the state to safeguard pupils, teachers and other residents against future attacks.
While expressing sympathy to the victims and their families over the traumatic experience, the President thanked Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration for working closely with the Federal Government throughout the rescue mission.
President Tinubu further directed emergency response agencies to collaborate with the Oyo State Government in providing medical attention, psychological care and other necessary support for the rescued pupils and teachers as they recover from the ordeal.
