The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has denied allegations that he received money from proxies of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to facilitate the impeachment of Governor Seyi Makinde, describing the claims as false and politically motivated.

In a reaction to the allegation, Ogundoyin stated that no money exchanged hands at any meeting, insisting the rumour was fabricated to tarnish his image and destabilise both the executive and legislative arms of government. He, however, disclosed that he was offered monetary inducement, which he declined, stressing that no amount of money could compromise his conscience or loyalty to the governor, the party and the people.

The Speaker reaffirmed his commitment to the Makinde administration, saying he would never betray the mandate of the people or support any agenda aimed at destabilising the government. He added that the Assembly under his leadership remains focused on upholding constitutional order, good governance and the collective interest of residents.

Ogundoyin also dismissed insinuations linking his recent visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, to political scheming. He clarified that the visit was purely consultative and held weeks earlier, explaining that he met the monarch to inform him of his governorship ambition and seek royal blessings.
He urged members of the public to disregard what he described as attempts to create division within the state’s political leadership, maintaining that he has consistently carried the governor along in all his engagements.
