The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fraudulent website falsely announcing the commencement of a fresh nationwide online voter registration exercise.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the commission refuted claims circulating online that online voter registration would take place between September 28 and October 27, 2026.

INEC identified the website, http://tinyurl.com/inecnigeria-cv, as fake, stressing that it was neither created nor authorised by the commission.

The electoral body cautioned Nigerians against visiting the suspicious platform or providing personal details, warning that such actions could lead to the theft, exposure or misuse of sensitive information.

Clarifying the status of voter registration, INEC stated that the exercise officially ended on July 26, 2026. It emphasised that reports of a new nationwide online registration exercise being conducted through the website were entirely false.

The commission urged citizens to exercise caution when accessing electoral information online and to rely exclusively on its verified communication platforms for accurate updates.

For further enquiries and verification, members of the public can contact INEC through its Call Centre on 0700-CALL-INEC (0700-2255-4632), short code 4632, or phone numbers 090844444333 and 09050858629.

Other official contact channels include its email address, iccc@inec.gov.ng, website, inecnigeria.org, and news portal, inecnews.com.

INEC reiterated its warning against the fraudulent platform, urging Nigerians to disregard its claims and obtain all voter registration updates directly from the commission’s authorised channels.
