The Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi Campaign Organisation has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and its governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, of making unsubstantiated allegations against the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), warning that such claims could heighten political tension in the state.
The organisation made the allegation in a statement issued on Sunday by its Deputy Director, Media and Publicity, Moses Alao, in reaction to claims linking APM supporters to recent incidents of violence in Ibadan.
It urged the APC and the Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation (SSACO) to allow security agencies to investigate the incidents rather than publicly attributing responsibility without evidence.
It also called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Oyo State Police Command to caution political parties against making sensational allegations that could undermine security efforts.
The campaign organisation specifically faulted allegations linking APM supporters to the reported attack involving Hon. Folake Osinowo-Olunloyo and the Accord Party, as well as the alleged killing of a man identified as Ridwan, also known as Paul Moore, in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area.
While expressing condolences over the reported death, the organisation questioned the basis for linking APM members to the incident, arguing that such claims should be supported by credible evidence and the findings of law enforcement agencies.
It further alleged that the APC and SSACO had repeatedly sought to associate Governor Seyi Makinde, Adekanmbi and the APM with acts of violence without substantiating the claims. The organisation maintained that its candidates and party were committed to peace and urged political actors to exercise restraint ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The statement also referenced photographs and videos which it claimed showed individuals wielding axes during an incident involving Accord Party members at Molete, Ibadan, insisting that security agencies should investigate the incident and other reported cases before conclusions are drawn.
The campaign organisation accused the APC and SSACO of promoting one-sided narratives through online media platforms, alleging that such actions were intended to influence public opinion and undermine the APM.
It called on residents of Oyo State to disregard what it described as politically motivated allegations, expressing confidence that the claims would not affect public support for Governor Makinde, Adekanmbi and the APM.
