The Adekunle Gold Foundation, in collaboration with the Sickle Cell Advocacy & Management Initiative, has provided medical support to more than 400 people living with Sickle Cell Disorder during a recent outreach in Lagos.
The medical exercise, held on March 14, delivered a wide range of healthcare services, including specialist consultations, laboratory investigations, blood transfusions for critical cases, pain management, physiotherapy, and the distribution of essential medications. Beneficiaries were also given prescription drugs and care supplies expected to last up to three months.

Sickle cell disorder remains one of the most widespread genetic conditions globally, with Nigeria bearing a significant portion of the burden. However, access to consistent and affordable treatment continues to pose a major challenge for many patients.
Founded by Nigerian music star Adekunle Gold, the foundation focuses on raising awareness and improving access to care for individuals living with the condition.
Speaking on the initiative, Adekunle Gold, who has lived with sickle cell since childhood, said the outreach was designed to ease the financial and health burden faced by patients.
“Living with sickle cell is something I understand personally. Beyond the pain, there is the cost of care, which many people cannot afford. We want to make treatment more accessible so people can live better,” he said.
