The Oyo State Government has approved the elevation of three prominent Ibadan High Chiefs in a strategic move to further strengthen the traditional institution in the state.
Those elevated are High Chief Akeem Bolaji Adewoyin (Ekeerin Olubadan), High Chief Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli (Ekaarun Balogun), and High Chief Kola Babalola (Ekaarun Olubadan).
The coronation ceremony, which will also feature the presentation of beaded crowns, is scheduled to take place at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, on Friday, April 3, 2026.
According to a letter from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters addressed to  Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, noted that the approval is part of ongoing efforts to finalize the list of High Chiefs and Baales qualified for elevation.
The government emphasized that the immediate conferment of beaded crowns had become necessary to avoid speculation of undue delay or political influence, while also safeguarding the credibility and continuity of the Ibadan traditional system.
