The Oyo State Government has approved a work-free day for teachers across the state on Monday, October 5, to mark the 2026 Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Day.
The decision was communicated in a circular signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
According to the state government, the gesture is aimed at recognising teachersโ contributions to education and human capital development, while promoting their welfare and professional growth.
The holiday will also enable teachers to participate in activities lined up for the celebration and foster greater unity among members of the teaching profession.
The government congratulated teachers on the occasion and reiterated its commitment to improving the education sector through policies and programmes designed to enhance teaching and learning across the state.
