The Oyo State chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has declared its support for the governorship ambition of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate, Hon. Abimbola “Bimbo” Adekanmbi, ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
The declaration was made at a gathering of members and stakeholders of the Igbo community in Oyo State, where speakers also stressed the need for unity, peaceful coexistence and greater participation in the state’s political process.
The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akinsola Akintayo, who attended the event, called for support for the APM’s political direction, including the presidential aspiration of Governor Seyi Makinde, the governorship candidacy of Adekanmbi and other candidates of the party.
Adekanmbi, in his remarks, assured the gathering that, if elected, his administration would promote inclusive governance and ensure that residents and communities across ethnic and social backgrounds have a sense of belonging. He said unity, cooperation and equal participation would remain central to his vision for Oyo State.
Adekanmbi emerged as the APM’s consensus governorship candidate in May 2026 and has since engaged various communities and stakeholder groups across the state, with inclusive governance and continuity featuring prominently in his engagements.
