The Mojisola Grace Humanitarian Foundation has been officially unveiled in Ibadan, Oyo State, with a commitment to support vulnerable Nigerians while promoting education, healthcare, skills acquisition, empowerment and sustainable community development.
The foundation, founded by accountant and entrepreneur Mrs Mojisola Grace Balogun, was inaugurated during an official opening ceremony and volunteers’ retreat at the Ibadan Business School, where its leadership outlined a five-year development agenda focused on building a credible, structured and sustainable humanitarian organisation.
Speaking at the event, Balogun said the foundation was established from a conviction that every human life has value and that vulnerable people should not be forgotten because of poverty, illness or difficult circumstances.
She said the foundation would go beyond occasional charity by seeking to empower lives, strengthen communities and create sustainable impact, particularly through interventions in humanitarian assistance, education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment, skills acquisition and social development.
Balogun stressed that the initiative was not about one person but about collective service, compassion and the difference individuals and organisations could make when they work together. She also called for partnerships with corporate organisations, NGOs, international organisations, philanthropists, professionals, community leaders, government institutions and volunteers.
In his keynote address, the Executive Director of PAAM Literacy and Vocational Organisation and Southwest Zonal Coordinator of the Child Protection Network Nigeria, Dr Peter Akosile, described the foundation as an initiative conceived to translate compassion into practical support for orphans, widows, elderly people, children and other vulnerable members of society.
Akosile said Balogun’s background as an accountant and entrepreneur, coupled with her passion for humanitarian service, had provided the motivation for the initiative, urging stakeholders to support the foundation in its effort to reach people in need.
The foundation’s presentation, delivered by Akinsola Alex Ayinla, BSc, MSc, ACA, ACTI, ASMc, FA, emphasised that humanitarian intervention should not be limited to giving material assistance, but should also help beneficiaries gain dignity, stability and greater self-reliance.
According to the presentation, the foundation will be guided by compassion, integrity and transparency, accountability, dignity and empowerment, with emphasis on identifying genuine needs, responding responsibly and measuring the impact of its interventions.
The organisation’s five-year agenda is divided into phases, beginning with strengthening its structures, policies, records and systems in the first year; expanding programmes and community outreach in the second; deepening strategic partnerships and sponsorship in the third; responsible expansion in the fourth; and building a stronger and more sustainable organisation with measurable impact by the fifth year.
Balogun said the foundation was open to both financial and non-financial support, noting that individuals and organisations could contribute through skills, services, equipment, knowledge, time and professional connections.
The foundation’s stated vision is to contribute to reducing poverty, hunger and diseases and promoting peace through giving, caring and empowerment, while its mission is to stand with the poor, vulnerable and less privileged.
Its focus areas include humanitarian care and protection, education, healthcare, skills acquisition and vocational training, youth and women empowerment, poverty relief, community-based interventions and strategic national and international partnerships.
The Mojisola Grace Humanitarian Foundation is currently awaiting its certificate from the Corporate Affairs Commission and has called for partnerships that can help expand its humanitarian programmes and reach more underserved communities.
With the motto “Giving Hope, Caring, Dignity, and Empowerment,” the foundation says its ultimate goal is to build an organisation that people can trust and that can make a measurable and lasting difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities.
