Yoruba nation agitator and founder of the Iru Ekun Security Network, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has proposed the deployment of security personnel to public schools across Oyo State following the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.
The proposal comes amid growing concerns over the safety of school children after more than 40 pupils, alongside a principal and vice principal, were kidnapped by armed criminals in the Oriire area, an incident that has generated widespread condemnation across the state.
In a letter addressed to the Oyo State Government, Igboho requested comprehensive information on all public primary and secondary schools in the state, including their names, population and exact locations.
 According to him, the data would assist his security outfit in carrying out security mapping, risk assessment and strategic deployment aimed at preventing future attacks on schools.
He expressed sympathy with the affected families, teachers and residents of the affected communities, describing the abduction as a painful and unfortunate incident.
While commending the efforts of the state government and security agencies in working towards the release of the victims, he stressed the need for stronger preventive measures to safeguard schools.
Igboho stated that the Iru Ekun Security Network is prepared to station at least two trained operatives in every public school across the state if granted the necessary approval and support. The operatives, he explained, would work closely with school authorities, local vigilantes and conventional security agencies to monitor school environments and prevent criminal infiltration.
He also urged the state government to consider fencing public schools as part of efforts to improve security infrastructure. He noted that perimeter fencing would help control access to school premises and make surveillance more effective..
Legal Adviser to the Iru Ekun Security Network, Junaid Sanusi, said the proposed initiative would operate within the confines of the law and in collaboration with agencies such as the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The security outfit maintained that the proposal is intended to complement existing government security efforts and enhance the protection of students, teachers and educational facilities across Oyo State.
Copies of the proposal were reportedly forwarded to Governor Seyi Makinde and other relevant authorities for consideration as stakeholders continue to seek lasting solutions to the growing security challenges facing schools in parts of
