…Call for Arrest of Alleged Impostor
Leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oluyole Federal Constituency have again affirmed Hon. Olusina John Ogunsola as the party’s authentic candidate for the House of Representatives seat, while urging security agencies to apprehend anyone falsely presenting himself as the party’s flagbearer.
The declaration followed the conclusion of the party’s primary election, where Ogunsola emerged victorious with an overwhelming margin.
Addressing party members and stakeholders, the overall leader of the party in the constituency, Alhaji Mohammed Akindele, maintained that Ogunsola remains the officially recognised candidate of the ADC, stressing that his emergence reflected the clear mandate of delegates during the primary.
Akindele also appealed to relevant security authorities to act swiftly against individuals allegedly attempting to distort the outcome of the exercise or create confusion within the party.
It would be recalled that the primary election in Oluyole Federal Constituency was conducted under the supervision of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security personnel. At the end of the exercise, Ogunsola polled 1,631 votes to defeat his closest contender, Hon. Adeniran Olaide, who scored 88 votes, while Hon. Adetunji Francis secured 68 votes.
Party leaders described the primary as peaceful, credible, and transparent, adding that the presence of INEC officials and security operatives further strengthened confidence in the legitimacy of the process. Delegates equally praised the orderly conduct of the election.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Ogunsola thanked delegates, party members, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, describing the outcome as a “historic mandate” driven by the aspirations of the people of Oluyole.
“This victory belongs to the people of Oluyole who yearn for responsible leadership, effective representation, and meaningful development,” he stated.
“I am deeply grateful for the overwhelming support and trust shown to me by party faithful. The result of this primary reflects our collective resolve to build a brighter future for the constituency,” Ogunsola added.
He further called for unity among party members and extended an olive branch to fellow aspirants and their supporters ahead of the general election.
“I appeal to all members of our great party to remain united. I also extend my hand of fellowship to my co-aspirants and their supporters so that together we can work towards delivering quality representation for the people of Oluyole,” he said.
Stakeholders at the venue also commended the peaceful conduct of the primary election, noting that the transparent process had further reinforced confidence in the party’s internal democratic system.
