Popular Nigerian social media personality and self-styled relationship expert, Blessing CEO, has sparked a wave of mixed reactions after publicly announcing that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is in urgent need of financial assistance for treatment.
The influencer, whose real name is Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, made the emotional disclosure in a video shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, revealing that she is battling the life threatening illness and appealing to Nigerians for help.
“I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I need help,” she said in the video, appearing visibly distressed.
In a bid to raise funds for chemotherapy and possible surgery, Blessing CEO disclosed that she has put her Lagos mansion up for sale, describing it as a distress decision driven by the urgency of her condition.
She further explained that doctors are currently assessing the extent of the disease, noting that surgical options, including the possible removal of one or both breasts, are being considered depending on how far the cancer has spread.
According to her, the health challenge began last year when she discovered a lump in her breast, which was initially declared non-cancerous. However, a second biopsy conducted earlier this year reportedly confirmed the presence and progression of the disease.
Following her announcement, fans and well-wishers flooded her social media pages with prayers and messages of support.
However, the revelation has also been met with widespread scepticism. The situation took a controversial turn after the initial video announcing her diagnosis was deleted shortly after posting, fueling doubts among followers.
Among those who questioned her claims is former BBNaija star Uriel Oputa, who cited her personal experience with a family member battling cancer as reason for concern over the details shared.
Critics have also referenced Blessing CEO’s history of controversies and past allegations of sensational claims, urging caution in accepting her story without verification.
Medical observers have further raised questions over her reference to advanced-stage cancer alongside proposed breast amputation, noting that treatment approaches at such stages are often more complex.
In response to the growing doubts, Blessing CEO released a follow-up video, insisting her diagnosis is genuine and providing a detailed timeline of her health journey. She also shared an explanatory video from an oncologist to clarify medical concerns surrounding her condition.
As reactions continue to trail the announcement, her appeal for financial support remains ongoing, leaving the public divided between sympathy and scepticism.
