The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has congratulated former Governor of Oyo State, High Chief Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on his confirmation and approval as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

In a statement issued by his media office, Ogundoyin described the elevation of Oba Ladoja as a historic moment that combines royalty, experience, and statesmanship. He expressed confidence that Ibadanland will enjoy peace, wisdom, and progress under the reign of the new monarch. The Speaker also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for promptly approving the nomination of the Olubadan-in-Council, saying the decision upholds the cherished tradition of Ibadan’s chieftaincy structure.

Ogundoyin further praised the uniqueness of the Ibadan traditional succession system, which he said remains one of the most peaceful, organized, and credible royal transition frameworks in Nigeria. “The seamless emergence of a new Olubadan without rancor is a strong testament to the strength and dignity of the Ibadan traditional institution. It is a model worthy of emulation across the country,” he said.

The Speaker also acknowledged Oba Ladoja’s remarkable contributions as a former governor, senator, and elder statesman, noting that his wealth of experience would be invaluable in promoting development and cultural prestige in Ibadanland.

He urged indigenes and residents to  support  the incoming monarch ahead of his coronation ceremony scheduled for September 26, 2025, at Mapo Hall, Ibadan.
