The Oyo State House of Assembly has congratulated its Speaker, Rt Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, on the successful completion of his tenure as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, describing his leadership as impactful and reform driven.
The congratulatory message, issued on Tuesday by the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Media, Public Affairs and ICT, Hon Waheed Akintayo, said Ogundoyin set a high standard through nationally significant reforms that repositioned legislative practice across State Houses of Assembly.
According to the statement, Ogundoyin recorded outstanding achievements during his over two-year tenure, including increased public awareness of legislative activities, which strengthened accountability, transparency and citizens’ trust in governance at the sub-national level.
The Assembly noted that Ogundoyin made history as the youngest Speaker to chair the Conference and the first from an opposition party, a development that ushered in bold reforms such as the digitalisation of legislative processes, establishment of Post-Legislative Scrutiny Units, sustained advocacy for fiscal transparency, and the defence of legislative autonomy through strategic executive–legislative engagement.
The House described Ogundoyin’s tenure as a reference point in Nigeria’s legislative history marked by innovation, inclusivity and institutional strengthening, while also congratulating the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, on his election as the new Chairman of the Conference and wishing him a successful tenure.
