… Quick response by the Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) helped limit the devastation of a truck accident earlier today at the Beere–Oje axis.
The Authority, alongside security operatives and the Environmental Task Force, had been enforcing anti-street trading measures at Oje Market and nearby areas when reports of the crash emerged. Eyewitnesses said a truck, allegedly suffering brake failure, rammed into tricycles, stalls, and pedestrians, resulting in fatalities and injuries.
Though OYRLEA did not witness the crash, officials documented the scene and confirmed that prior clearance operations reduced the potential scale of the tragedy.

Residents praised the ongoing enforcement, noting that earlier removal of roadside obstructions likely prevented even greater loss of life.
OYRLEA Chairperson, Honourable Justice Aderonke Aderemi (Rtd.), urged traders to avoid roadways and walkways, emphasizing that “enforcement is continuous, and we will act to protect lives.” The Authority extended condolences to the bereaved and wished the injured a swift recovery.
Street Trading Kills. Compliance Saves Lives.
