Sanwo-Olu Appoints Oba Ogunsanwo as LASU’s 6th Chancellor

The Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to Lagos State University, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed the Alara of Ilara, Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, as the sixth Chancellor of the institution.
The appointment was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr Emmanuel Fanu.
Oba Ogunsanwo succeeds Gbolahan Elias, who served as the fifth Chancellor of the university.
The statement stated that,  the appointment was made in line with the provisions of the Lagos State University Law 2004 (as amended), which empowers the Visitor to appoint the Chancellor of the university.
The statement noted that Oba Ogunsanwo’s appointment is for a single term of five years, effective from February 13, 2026, and renewable once.
The university’s management and governing council congratulated the new Chancellor on his appointment, expressing optimism that his leadership would further advance the institution’s vision and mission.
The statement also conveyed the management’s appreciation to Elias for his meritorious service and contributions during his tenure as Chancellor.
