A police officer has been killed following an attack by suspected kidnappers on Aqua Triton Company located at Ogunmakin, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Oyo State.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday, was said to have involved the abduction of a Chinese expatriate during the attack on the facility.
Confirming the development, the Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the assailants stormed the company in a commando style operation.
According to him, “There was an attack at Aqua Triton Company in Ogunmakin, near Ibadan, Oyo State, where yet-to-be-identified gunmen stormed the facility. One police officer tragically died while repelling the attack, after injuring some of the assailants, and the Chinese expatriate principal was abducted.”
Ayanlade added that upon receiving information about the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Femi Haruna, immediately directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to lead the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and other tactical teams to the scene.
He disclosed that a bush-combing operation is currently ongoing, while a full investigation has been launched to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted expatriate and the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
