OYRLEA Demands Proof of Compliance from Durantee Farm

The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) has tightened regulatory pressure on Durantee Farm Limited, Challenge, Ibadan, by activating what it described as a final compliance window, demanding documentary proof of corrective action rather than assurances.
Unlike previous enforcement steps, the latest move shifts focus from site inspections to verifiable paperwork, as OYRLEA ordered the company to present evidence of consultant engagement, engineering drawings for its Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), and proof of correspondence with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources within 14 days.
The directive followed a joint follow-up inspection by OYRLEA officials and environmental health officers on February 9, 2026, which revealed no visible remediation since a 21-day Notice to Abate Nuisance was issued on November 10, 2025, over alleged environmental violations linked to wastewater handling.
Officials observed that the firm had yet to commence reconstruction, modification or covering of its open ETP, raising concerns about the continued discharge of untreated effluents into public water bodies and the attendant public health risks.
Responding during the inspection, the company’s Human Resources and Administration Manager, Alhaji Ebunade Oloyeede, said Durantee Farm had engaged a consultant and sought ministerial approval for an upgrade of the facility, attributing the delay to the absence of feedback from the ministry.
OYRLEA, however, warned that explanations would no longer suffice, stressing that failure to submit verifiable compliance documents within the stipulated period would trigger further enforcement actions under Oyo State environmental and public health laws, as the authority reiterated its resolve to protect residents and uphold environmental standards statewide.
