The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, on Sunday paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Chief Imam of Eruwaland, Sheikh Dr. Billah Shittu, at his residence in Sango, Eruwa.
The courtesy  visit was to congratulate Dr. Shittu on his emergence as the spiritual leader of the Muslim community in the town, after the demise of the revered former Chief Imam, Sheikh AbdulKareem AbdulSalam Olore.
Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin was received by the League of Imams and Alfas in Eruwa, who appreciated his consistent engagement with religious leaders and grassroots institutions. He offered prayers for the repose of the late cleric’s soul and also that Allah may grant him eternal rest in Aljanah Firdaus.
While  commending the maturity and unity applied to the selection of Sheikh Dr. Shittu, the Speaker applauded the Eruwa Muslim community for ensuring a peaceful transition.
“I commend the peaceful nature of the selection process. This unity is what we need to move our community forward. I encourage all Muslim faithful to support and work closely with our new Chief Imam for the continued progress of Islam in Eruwa,” he said.
He further highlighted the importance of synergy between the Chief Imam and the Muslim faithful to strengthen religious activities and enhance community development.
During the visit, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin also toured the orphanage home established and run by Sheikh Dr. Shittu. He interacted with the children, posed for group photographs, and expressed admiration for the humanitarian service  rendered by the new Chief Imam.
The Speaker assured the people of his readiness to support such initiatives, describing them as noble causes that uplift the less privileged in the society.
