The Oyo State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has intensified efforts to partner key media organisations in a renewed push to strengthen sanitation campaigns and deepen environmental awareness across the state.
The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Ademola Aderinto, this week led senior officials of the ministry on courtesy visits to leading indigenous radio stations in Ibadan.
The engagement, according to the Commissioner, is in line with the Ministry’s roadmap to position the media as strategic stakeholders and effective amplifiers of government policies, ensuring that the vision of a cleaner and greener Oyo State resonates with residents at the grassroots.
Aderinto stressed that achieving a clean and healthy environment requires collective responsibility. He noted that government efforts alone would not suffice without active collaboration from the media and the public.
Describing the media as a powerful tool for public enlightenment and behavioural change, the Commissioner said the Ministry is adopting a more communication driven sanitation strategy aimed at improving compliance with environmental regulations and encouraging proper waste disposal practices.
In his response, the General Manager of 32FM, Peter Omoh, assured the Commissioner of the station’s readiness to partner with the Ministry in promoting environmental consciousness among residents.
The delegation also visited the Chairman/Owner of Fresh FM Nigeria, Yinka Ayefele, as part of ongoing consultations for a broader media support for the state’s sanitation drive.
