The Oyo State Police Command has discovered a suspected drug stockpiling operation in Ibadan, recovering large quantities of illicit substances from a criminal hideout in the Olomi area of Ibadan.
The seizure was as a result of credible intelligence, indicating that an apartment along Abanise Street, Academy area, Olomi, was being used to store illegal drugs.
The detectives of the command acted on the information, raided the location and conducted a thorough search of the premises and its surroundings.
During the operation, the police recovered nine bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 101 wraps of dried leaves believed to be Canadian Loud, alongside other hard drugs. The exhibits were secured, thereby disrupting a suspected drug distribution network in the area.
The suspect, identified as Oluwadamilare Adedayo, was not found at the scene. Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, has ordered intensive surveillance and a coordinated manhunt to ensure his arrest.
The police command reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence led policing and called on residents to continue providing timely and credible information, stressing that the fight against drug related crimes remains a collective responsibility.
