Two prominent Ibadan Mogajis and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State have cautioned former party member Diran Odeyemi against commenting on the internal matters of the party, insisting that those who have exited its fold should refrain from interfering in its affairs.
The party stalwarts, Mogaji Abass Oloko and Mogaji Ademola Olasomi Oladosu, also dismissed moves they believe could generate tension within the party, stressing that the PDP in the state remains cohesive and firmly established.
Addressing journalists in Ibadan on Saturday, the duo maintained that the party’s structure in Oyo State is stable and united under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, adding that recent remarks by Odeyemi regarding the party’s internal dynamics were unwarranted.
According to Oloko, individuals who have moved on politically should concentrate on their new platforms rather than making pronouncements capable of stirring controversy within the PDP.
The chieftains also reacted to perceived external political influence, advising the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to avoid involvement in the internal political affairs of Oyo State.
They argued that political developments in the state should remain the responsibility of local stakeholders and party leaders, noting that the PDP in Oyo has the capacity to manage its affairs independently.
Oladosu stressed that while national political figures are respected, Oyo State’s political decisions must be determined by leaders and party members within the state.
The party leaders further downplayed the possibility of the PDP being destabilised by the activities of former Deputy Governor Hazeem Gbolarumi, saying the party’s structure is too solid to be shaken by the actions of any single individual.
They reiterated that the strength of the PDP in Oyo State lies in its widespread grassroots structure across wards and local governments, urging members to remain loyal and focused on sustaining unity within the party.
