The Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps has condemned what it described as a “Gestapo-style” abduction of one of its operatives, Amo Saheed Ajibola, by personnel allegedly attached to Nigeria Police Force Zone 11.
According to a statement issued by the Corps, Ajibola, who was deployed to a static patrol post at General Gas, Akobo, Ibadan, was reportedly whisked away around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, while on official duty.
Reacting to the incident, the Oyo State Commandant of the Amotekun Corps, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd.), criticized the manner of the arrest, describing it as “unprofessional and uncivil.” He noted that the Amotekun Corps has always maintained a cordial working relationship with other security agencies  including the Police, DSS, and NSCDC  particularly in cases requiring inter  agency cooperation.
Olayanju explained that in situations involving any of its operatives, the appropriate procedure would be to officially notify the Corps headquarters rather than resorting to forceful arrest. “The Gestapo approach of abducting an operative on lawful duty does not demonstrate civility,” he said, emphasizing that such conduct undermines collaboration and could have led to violent resistance or fatalities.
He further expressed concern that the officers who carried out the operation were not in uniform nor using a branded police vehicle a situation, he warned, that could easily create confusion or panic in the current security climate where kidnappings and impersonations are prevalent.
The Commandant called on the Police to adopt more professional and civil methods in handling inter-agency matters to promote trust, effective synergy, and respect for fundamental human rights.
As of the time of this report, the Oyo Amotekun Corps stated that it had yet to receive any official correspondence from the Police regarding the arrest of Amo Saheed Ajibola.
