Following the ongoing chieftaincy tussle among some families in Ido over the stool of the Onido, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rasheed Ladoja, has constituted a three-man committee to look into the matter.
The committee, led by Chief Abiodun Kola Daisi, is mandated to thoroughly examine the issues surrounding the Onido chieftaincy and make appropriate recommendations in line with Ibadan customs and traditions.
Speaking on a programme in Ibadan00, Mogaji Bolatito Akinyemi, who featured as a Mogaji and a son of Ibadanland, described the Olubadan’s intervention as timely and reassuring, noting that it reflects the monarch’s commitment to peace, justice, and the preservation of Ibadan’s traditional institutions.
Mogaji Akinyemi explained that the monarch’s decision demonstrates deep respect for due process and communal harmony, adding that the committee was set up to hear all aggrieved parties and families involved in the dispute.
He stressed that the committee’s assignment would be inclusive and strictly guided by Ibadan customs and traditions, noting that its members are respected and credible sons of Ibadanland who enjoy the confidence of the people.
Mogaji Akinyemi appealed to all stakeholders to remain calm and allow the traditional process to run its full course, assuring that the Olubadan would ensure fairness and equity in resolving the chieftaincy tussle.
