The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has extended the deadline for its student loan application portal for the 2025/2026 academic session following requests from some tertiary institutions across the country.
The agency disclosed this in a statement issued by its Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, who explained that the extension applies only to institutions that formally requested additional time to enable their eligible students complete the application process.
The statement stated that, this decision was taken to ensure that students in the affected institutions are not left out of the loan programme due to administrative or institutional delays.
NELFUND’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Akintunde Sawyerr, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to providing financial support for qualified Nigerian students seeking higher education.
Sawyerr urged students in the affected institutions to take advantage of the extension by completing and submitting their applications through the official NELFUND portal within the new deadline.
He added that the fund remains committed to transparency and sustainable student financing, noting that the initiative is aimed at removing financial barriers and improving access to higher education in Nigeria.
