The Catch Them Young Initiative has commended the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for approving and funding free registration for the state’s common entrance examination, describing the gesture as a major relief for parents and guardians across the state.
Speaking with press men on Thursday, the Chief Coordinator of the Initiative and Bright Lens Media Network, Mrs. Ayodeni Aluko, said the decision underscores the Makinde administration’s sustained commitment to education as the bedrock of societal development.
She noted that the quality of education in Oyo State has witnessed steady improvement in recent years, adding that government interventions have significantly reduced the number of out-of-school children.
Mrs. Aluko highlighted key achievements of the present administration, including the transformation of infrastructure in public primary schools, the recruitment of nearly 18,000 teachers in the last seven years, the introduction of e-learning methods, and the sustenance of free education policies.
According to her, these initiatives have boosted pupils’ enthusiasm and readiness to embrace formal education.
Emphasising the importance of accessible education, she urged pupils and students to remain focused and take their studies seriously to secure a brighter and independent future, drawing parallels with global standards of educational excellence.
The Coordinator also praised the management of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, led by Dr. Nureni Adeniran, for intensive supervision of primary schools across the state. She said the board’s proactive oversight has strengthened dedication, seamless operations, and commitment among teachers in public schools.
Mrs. Aluko, who is also a media practitioner and education advocate, called on parents and guardians to continue supporting the government and teachers to ensure improved learning outcomes. She equally advised pupils and students to shun laziness and social vices, stressing that discipline and hard work remain key to achieving academic success.
