Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has lifted the spirit of popular broadcaster and musician, Dr. Yinka Ayefele, with the gift of a brand-new SUV, barely days after a fire incident ravaged part of Fresh FM Headquarters in Ibadan.
The vehicle was presented to Ayefele at the Music House, Challenge, Ibadan, by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo, on behalf of the governor. Ojo said the gesture was both a token of appreciation for Ayefele’s contributions to media development and a show of solidarity in the wake of the unfortunate incident.
According to him, the governor deemed it necessary to identify with Ayefele at this time, commending his dedication to the growth of the broadcasting industry and the wider society. “Governor Makinde appreciates the good work you are doing for the public in Oyo State, and in his usual way of encouraging such efforts, he asked me to present this vehicle to you,” Ojo stated.
An emotional Ayefele, who was surprised to received the unexpected gift, thanked the governor for his compassion and generosity. He also lauded Makinde’s assurance that the fire outbreak would not cripple Fresh FM’s operations, praising the support received from media colleagues, residents, and Nigerians at large.
Dignitaries at the presentation included the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun; Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju; Senior Special Assistant on Broadcast Media, Mrs. Bosede Sodiq, as well as top management staff of Fresh FM Nigeria.
