Oyo State Governor, Engineer Oluseyi Makinde, has lauded the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, on the successful completion of his tenure as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, describing his leadership as eventful and trail-blazing.
The governor said Ogundoyin recorded remarkable achievements that brought pride to Oyo State, while also congratulating the new Chairman of the Conference and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, wishing him a successful tenure.
Makinde noted that Ogundoyin’s historic emergence as the youngest chairman and the first Speaker from an opposition party symbolised a generational shift and ushered in a reform-driven and inclusive leadership within state legislatures.
He praised Ogundoyin’s vision and commitment, highlighting milestones such as the digital transformation of state legislatures through partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the defence of legislative autonomy, strengthened engagement with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), advocacy for financial autonomy, and meaningful contributions to the constitutional review process.
The governor further commended Ogundoyin for harmonising legislative procedures, spearheading the establishment of Nigeria’s first Post-Legislative Scrutiny Unit at the sub-national level, promoting gender inclusion and equity, engaging parliamentary staff through PASAN, and expanding international and institutional partnerships, while wishing him success in his future endeavours.
