Oyo State GGovernor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has approved a monthly palliative of ₦10,000 for civil servants in the state as part of measures to ease the impact of rising fuel prices on residents.

The governor disclosed this during the Youth Empowerment Agribusiness Programme (YEAP) Safer Disbursement Ceremony and Stakeholders’ Engagement held at the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub in Oyo, noting that the intervention will also cover local government workers across the state.

Makinde explained that the palliative, which will commence in April 2026, is expected to run for an initial period of three months, adding that the decision was taken in response to the economic strain triggered by the recent hike in petroleum product prices.

He, however, expressed optimism that the support scheme could be extended beyond the initial timeline, depending on the prevailing economic realities and the needs of workers in the state.
