Content creator and philanthropist, Mitchell Mukoro, popularly known as King Mitchy, has publicly apologised to Seyi Tinubu, social media activist Martins Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan), the Ooni of Ife, and Nigerians following weeks of online controversy surrounding her conduct on social media.
The apology comes after a heated feud that erupted in late February and generated widespread reactions, accusations and counter-accusations across social media platforms.
In a video posted on her Instagram page on Thursday, the influencer admitted that her actions fell below the expectations placed on public figures.
“Good morning, Nigerians. I’m ready to be held accountable for my actions. For some days I’ve reflected on my behaviour, and I know that I was wrong,” she said.
King Mitchy also addressed criticism over a live broadcast in which she appeared to ingest a substance believed to be bleach, describing the action as a mistake.
She acknowledged that many young people look up to her and admitted that the incident disappointed many of her followers.
“I know there are young girls who look up to me and I disappointed a lot of people. That was wrong of me,” she said.
The influencer also apologised to Seyi Tinubu, whom she referred to as “ST,” noting that although she had apologised privately earlier, it was important to do so publicly since the criticism was made in public.
“I’m so sorry, sir. I want you to know that I will never take your support for granted,” she said.
In the video, she also apologised to the Ooni of Ife, expressing regret for bringing the monarch’s name into the controversy.
King Mitchy further extended an apology to activist VeryDarkMan, describing him as her “brother” and acknowledging his advocacy efforts.
“You’re fighting for Nigerians and for a better Nigeria. You need more supporters, not people fighting you,” she said.
