The Vice-Chairman of Egbeda Local Government Area, Hon. Ibrahim Oladeebo, Simple, on Thursday used his return to Brendan Primary School, Kumopayi, Olodo, Ibadan, to underscore the long-term impact of public education in shaping leadership and social mobility.
Speaking at the Catch Them Young Initiative Campaign held at the school, Oladeebo framed his message around his past lived experience, where he reminded pupils that their current classrooms can serve as the foundation for national relevance backed up with discipline and good morals.
He described his visit, more than three decades after leaving the school, as symbolic proof that government schools still produce trailblazers.

Recounting his days as a band crew member and the first health prefect of the school, the Egbeda vice chairman attributed his rise in public service to early lessons in focus, resilience and character, noting that his presence at the school was meant to challenge pupils to see education as a pathway, not a limitation.
Oladeebo also called for sustained community support for the Seyi Makinde led administration, noting various improvements across education, health, security and the economy, while assuring residents of continued democratic dividends at the grassroots.
Earlier, the coordinator of the initiative, Mrs. Ayodeni Aluko, urged parents and teachers to deliberately nurture pupils’ talents through skills acquisition and value based learning.
The event featured the inauguration of Health, Environment, Press, Security and JETS clubs, with participation from education stakeholders, including the Egbeda chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers.
