  • The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has  rejoiced  with Muslim and Christian faithful on the commencement of the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent, which coincidentally begin on the same day this year.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Mr. Akeem Abas, and the Secretary, Temidayo Adu, the Council described the rare alignment of the two sacred observances as a spiritually significant moment that calls for deep reflection, renewed faith, sacrifice, and service to humanity, noting that both Ramadan and Lent emphasise self discipline, charity, peace, and compassion.
The Council urged members, especially press men, to seize the period to pray for unity, stability, and progress in Oyo State and Nigeria at large. It also charged media practitioners to remain steadfast in upholding truth, fairness, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The union further encouraged members to embrace love, tolerance, and mutual respect, irrespective of religious differences, stressing that the simultaneous observance presents a unique opportunity to strengthen interfaith harmony within the Union.
