Budget Defence Spotlight: Constituents Hail Akin Alabi’s Firm Grip on Works Ministry Session

The Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency have commended the Chairman, House Committee on Works, Akin Alabi, for what they described as a composed and commanding performance during the recent budget defence of the Federal Ministry of Works at the National Assembly.
Beyond routine legislative proceedings, observers noted that the session tested leadership temperament, as heated exchanges reportedly occurred among some federal lawmakers during deliberations.
However, the committee’s proceedings were steered with firmness and procedural discipline under Alabi’s chairmanship, ensuring that discussions remained structured and productive.
As Chairman of the House Committee on Works, Alabi formally opened the floor for the Honourable Minister to present the Ministry’s budget proposals and guided lawmakers through critical reviews of allocations, project priorities and implementation frameworks. Constituents said his handling of the session reflected legislative maturity and a strong grasp of oversight responsibilities.
Stakeholders from Oyo State noted that his interventions consistently emphasised improved funding mechanisms, timely project execution and sustainable maintenance of federal road infrastructure particularly projects impacting communities within the state.

Community leaders and youth groups also pointed out that his performance underscores the value of ranking lawmakers in strategic committees. According to them, experienced legislators provide institutional stability and are better positioned to defend constituency interests during high level negotiations and budget scrutiny.
In his remarks, Alabi reiterated his commitment to thorough oversight and infrastructure development, assuring constituents that he would continue to push for road projects capable of stimulating economic growth and improving connectivity across affected regions.
