The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and former Deputy Governor, Moses Alake Adeyemo, has urged newly inaugurated local government party chairmen to demonstrate loyalty, fairness and commitment in the discharge of their duties.
Adeyemo gave the charge on Friday during the swearing-in of newly elected party chairmen across 30 of the 33 local government areas in Oyo State. The ceremony took place at the APC State Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, and was attended by party leaders, members and supporters.
Addressing the new helmsmen, Adeyemo stressed the importance of unity and dedication as the party prepares for future elections. According to him, the local government chairmen must remain loyal to the leadership of the party and the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while ensuring fairness to all members at the grassroots.
He noted that the party had reached a critical stage in its preparations for the 2027 general elections, emphasizing that the newly inaugurated chairmen would play a key role in mobilizing support across their respective local government areas.
“The success recorded during the recent ward, local government and state congresses shows that the APC has come of age in Oyo State. Stakeholders have worked hard to restore peace and unity within the party, and it is important for everyone to contribute towards achieving victory in future elections,” Adeyemo said.
He added that the party was targeting over 80 per cent of the votes in the state for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, while also working to reclaim the state government seat at Agodi Government House in Ibadan.
Adeyemo further commended the Local Organising Committee for the congresses, led by Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, describing its work as commendable. He assured members that the few challenges recorded in some local government areas would be resolved in due course.
The APC chairman therefore urged the newly sworn-in local government party leaders to immediately begin mobilising members, stakeholders and supporters in their respective areas to strengthen the party’s structure and ensure victory for APC candidates in future elections.
