Aleshinloye Pledges Strict Enforcement of Federal Character Principle, Assures Oyo of Fair Share

The Federal Character Commissioner representing Oyo State, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Character Commission to strictly enforce the principle of fairness, equity and balanced representation in federal appointments, recruitment and distribution of national opportunities.

 

Prince Aleshinloye made the commitment during a press conference and inaugural meeting with staff of the Federal Character Commission in Oyo State.
He explained that the commission, established in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is mandated to ensure that no section of the country is marginalized in federal appointments, infrastructure distribution and access to national resources.

 

The commissioner noted that since the inauguration of the current board on January 22, 2026, under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ayo Hulayat Omidiran, the commission has intensified monitoring and compliance efforts across federal ministries, departments and agencies.

 

According to him, the commission is determined to ensure that recruitment, appointments, promotions, and the distribution of infrastructure and social amenities in the public service reflect fairness and balanced representation among all states of the federation.

 

Prince Aleshinloye stressed that the federal character principle remains a vital pillar for promoting national unity, integration and inclusiveness in Nigeria’s diverse society.
He assured the people of Oyo State that their interests would be adequately protected, noting that the commission would work to ensure that the state receives its fair share of federal opportunities

 

while also promoting merit and professionalism in public service.
The commissioner also called on federal institutions across the country to comply strictly with the guidelines and directives of the Federal Character Commission in order to promote transparency and public confidence in government institutions.

 

Addressing staff of the commission in Oyo State, Prince Aleshinloye urged them to remain committed, professional and transparent in carrying out their duties, noting that their roles are critical to the effective implementation of the commission’s policies.

 

He further commended the media for its role in strengthening democratic governance and keeping the public informed on matters of national development.

Prince Aleshinloye expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him through his appointment as Federal Character Commissioner representing Oyo State, pledging to serve diligently in line with the constitutional mandate of the commission.

 

He urged Nigerians to continue to uphold the ideals of unity, peace and fairness for the overall progress and prosperity of the country.
