Former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Moses Alake Adeyemo, has officially assumed office as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, pledging to unite party members and mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
Adeyemo was sworn in on Friday alongside members of the new State Executive Committee during an inauguration ceremony held at the APC State Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan. The event marked the final stage of the party’s 2026 congresses in the state.
The oath of office was administered by the party’s South-West Zonal Legal Adviser, Barrister Kolawole Majaro, to Adeyemo and 35 other executives who emerged through consensus during the March 3 state congress held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan.
In his acceptance speech, Adeyemo described his emergence as another call to serve the party and its members, promising to strengthen the APC structure in the state ahead of future electoral contests.
He urged party loyalists to avoid internal conflicts and activities capable of weakening the party’s chances in the next election cycle.
Adeyemo said the new executive would work to sustain the atmosphere of unity that characterised the recent congresses, stressing that cooperation among members would be crucial to the party’s quest to reclaim power in the state.
He also called on party leaders and members across the 33 local government areas to reconcile differences and mobilise effectively at the grassroots level.
According to him, the APC remains determined to secure overwhelming support for President Tinubu in the next presidential election and reclaim the Oyo State Government House in 2027.
Adeyemo praised the president’s ongoing reforms and the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the administration’s economic and political initiatives were already yielding positive outcomes across various sectors.
He maintained that giving the president a second term would enable him consolidate on the reforms and further improve the nation’s economy and governance.
The new chairman also pledged that the state executive under his leadership would operate with fairness, openness and constant engagement with party members, noting that the committee would remain receptive to dialogue and constructive criticism while prioritising the collective interest of the party.
Adeyemo expressed appreciation to the outgoing state executives led by Pharmacist Olaide Abas, as well as stakeholders and organisers of the party congresses, for their contributions to the process.
He further recalled the era of former Oyo State governors Lam Adesina and Abiola Ajimobi, saying the APC remained committed to restoring what he described as the legacy of progressive governance in the state.
Other members of the newly inaugurated executive include Deputy Chairman Dr. Taofeek Lamidi, State Secretary Hon. Fatai Adesina, Woman Leader Dr. Adekemi Opatunde, Publicity Secretary Olawale Sadare, Youth Leader Olalekan Oladejo, Organising Secretary Remi Adepoju, Treasurer Ajiboye Akinsanya and Legal Adviser Sunday Aborisade, among others.
Adeyemo urged party members to return to their wards and local government areas to resolve lingering disagreements, emphasising that unity within the party would be key to achieving electoral success in 2027.
