Hon. Saheed Akinade Fijabi was sent out of the APC Youth Summit on Wednesday in Ibadan, as what was meant to be a rallying point for youth mobilisation within the All Progressives Congress (APC) turned turbulent following his arrival.
Trouble started shortly after Fijabi, a former member of the House of Representatives, entered the summit venue, with party youths openly protesting his presence over his recent engagement with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration in Oyo State.
Fijabi, who was recently appointed by Governor Seyi Makinde as Chairman of the Oyo @ 50 Anniversary Committee, had during the unveiling of the anniversary logo hinted at the possibility of aligning with the ruling PDP, a development that has continued to generate reactions within the APC.
Some youths were heard chanting that his presence was neither expected nor needed at the summit, disrupting the interactive session despite efforts by party leaders to calm the situation.
The protests eventually forced some APC members to escort Hon. Fijabi out of the venue, amid continued expressions of dissatisfaction over perceived disloyalty and indiscipline within the party.
