The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has released a week-long programme of activities to mark its 60th Anniversary, otherwise known as the Diamond Jubilee, alongside its 2026 Press Week.
The celebration, scheduled for November 1 to 7, 2026, is themed, “Celebrating the Past, Defending the Present and Shaping the Future.”
Activities lined up for the anniversary include church thanksgiving, opening ceremony, anniversary lectures, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Day, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Day, Family and Veterans’ Day, Jumat service and the grand finale.
In a statement signed by the Council Secretary, Dayo Adu, members of the union were urged to take note of the various activities, dates and venues and participate actively in the celebration.
The Diamond Jubilee is expected to provide an opportunity to reflect on the union’s journey, recognise its contributions to journalism and consider the future of the profession in Oyo State.
