The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State Council, has congratulated Joseph Tegbe on his appointment as Minister of Power by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The union described the appointment as a deserving recognition of Tegbe’s competence, integrity and longstanding commitment to national development, expressing confidence in his capacity to reposition Nigeria’s power sector.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Council, Akeem Abas, and the Secretary, Temidayo Adu, the union commended President Bola Tinubu for what it termed a strategic decision aimed at entrusting the nation’s power sector to a capable and experienced hand.
The Council noted that Tegbe had over the years distinguished himself through exemplary leadership, professional excellence and dedication to public service, qualities it said would be invaluable at a crucial period in the nation’s development.
The statement states that, the appointment further strengthens public confidence in the administration’s resolve to place competent individuals in key national positions.
The union expressed optimism that the new minister would introduce innovation, professionalism and practical solutions capable of addressing lingering challenges confronting electricity generation, transmission and distribution across the country.
“Oyo NUJ believes Engr. Joseph Tegbe possesses the capacity and experience required to drive meaningful reforms in the power sector and improve electricity supply for millions of Nigerians,” the statement added.
The council also urged the minister to justify the confidence reposed in him by implementing policies and programmes that would enhance stable power supply, stimulate economic growth and improve the living standards of Nigerians.
